Why: A failed terminal without total_tokens can follow a successful tool turn, leaving the cumulative reported total stale even though prompt and completion include both turns.

Evidence: Mixed-turn persisted child test failed before the correction and passed after; SELF receipts usage-fix-mixed-turn-red-diagnostic.json, usage-fix-mixed-turn-green.json, and usage-fix-mixed-turn-full.json.

Impact: Reconcile against the larger of cumulative total or prompt-plus-completion while preserving cache and tool counts. No real-model sample was rerun.
