Merge authoritative main into the task branch

Why: include the current integration baseline before verification.
Evidence: origin/main=7f1d87dbb976ebe02ceb632d5a657a416ffb50bc. The documents gitlink is resolved to documents main c39efdc5015c57b18e18cc99ecf7f4c4f2e499ee, which contains the planning index.
Impact: integrate upstream changes and point documents at the merged index.
